President Weah Consoles South Africa

The President of the Republic of Liberia, George Manneh Weah, has sent a condolence message to Matamela Cyril Ramaphosa, President of the Republic of South Africa, following the death of at least seventy-four (74) persons and the injury of at least fifty-three (53) persons.

The deaths and injuries were due to a nighttime fire that ripped through a multi-storey building in Johannesburg, Republic of South Africa on Thursday, August 31, 2023.

According to a Foreign Ministry release, President George Manneh Weah, on behalf of the Government and People of Liberia, and in his own name, extended heartfelt condolences to Matamela Cyril Ramaphosa, President of the Republic of South Africa and to the Government and People of the Republic of South Africa, and in particular, the bereaved family, for the irreparable loss sustained.

The Liberian Leader then prayed and hoped that the Almighty God will grant Ramaphosa and the resilient people of South Africa faith, during this difficult period of national distress and mourning, and wished the injured people a speedy recovery.
