Postal Affairs Attracts International Investor

As a means of maintaining and adding innovation to the Postal Sector of the Ministry of Posts & Telecommunications, an International Postal Financial Company from Amsterdam has expressed interest.
The Ministry of Posts & Telecommunications headed by Cllr. W. Kruah Sr., and his Co-officers have been working tirelessly to transform postal activities and add more innovation to the postal sector.
One of their achievements within the first year was to maintain the National Postal Address System Project (NAPAS), which in recent time continued from 24TH Street in Sinkor Avenue and has now hit central Monrovia around the Carey street belt.
The Ministry also signed a Private Public Partnership (PPP) with a Liberian company called VAPCO to renovate and install more lock boxes at various post offices in the country.
Interestingly over the weekend, a company called Post Finance International Development expressed interest in Postal Financial services in Liberia.
The company is headed by Mr. Hans P. Boon, an internationally renowned expert with 27 years’ experience in International postal reform and postal banking development, leading or participating in postal financial development programs with cross-cultural teams in 60 countries.
According to report, his work is geared towards restructuring of postal operators and diversification strategies of post activities in the changing industry with key focus on Digital Financial Services.
Mr. Hans was involved in pioneering one of the World’s first cases in postal (bank) reform and privatization. He served 15 years on the Universal Postal Union Postal Financial services Commission where he led task forces.
During a meeting at the Ministry of Posts & Telecommunications on Friday, July 12, 2019, he introduced the concept note and his Power-point presentation revealed that his work with the Ministry will transform the postal sector and boost its financial inclusion.
He said the expected outcome will be increased financial expansion, enhance competitiveness, facilitate trade, and employments.
Meanwhile, the Acting Minister of Posts & Telecommunications, Mr. Prosper Browne has asserted that, having a postal financial service will enhance the Pro-poor agenda because services will be delivered to urban and rural areas across the country.
