Police Raid Zogoes’ Stronghold In Ganta

The Liberia National Police (LNP) recently raided what appeared to be the strong hold of criminals in Ganta City thereby bringing relief to the residents in Nimba County as the festive season draws closer.
The LNP county commander, Adolphus Zuah, explained that zogos’ ghettos were raided in several communities including the most dangerous stronghold base in the Ganta United Methodist plantation between the Sanniquellie Highway and Dagamond Town which was considered a ‘No-go’ zone.
Ganta is among several commercial cities in Liberia that top criminal records as more people continue to pour in the Police station on a daily basis to register cases of burglary, theft and other criminal related issues.
On September 30, 2015, it was reported that zogos killed a motorcyclist near the Ganta Methodist School and took away his motorbike which led to a demonstration by motorcyclists that left properties damaged including the looting of the Police station, the burning down of Hotel Alvino as well as two residential buildings owned by the hotel’s CEO, Prince Howard, who was linked to the killing of the motorcyclist for alleged ritualistic purposed.
It can be recalled that the killing of the motorcyclist prompted the raiding of zogos residing in the Congo Community near the Hotel Alvino and in 2016, police has since then continue the raid with several zogos arrested including the alleged killer of the motorcyclist.
Meanwhile, Mr. Zuah confirmed the arrest and detention of over 20 zogos charged and sent to court for prosecution.
