Overhead Bridges Construction Kicks Off In October … Liberia, China Sign Implementation Agreement

The Government of Liberia and the People‘s Republic of China have signed an Implementation Agreement for the construction of two China-Aid overpass bridge Projects on the Tubman Boulevard in Monrovia.
Acting Public Works Minister Signed on behalf of the Government of Liberia while the Economic and Commercial Counselor’s Office Embassy of the People’s Republic of China, LI Jiang singed for the Chinese Government at the Ministry of Public Works in Monrovia on June 8, 2021.
LI Jiang said the construction of overhead bridges is a continuation of China’s Support to the Government’s Pro-poor Agenda that intends to develop Liberia especially under President George Weah’s administration.
Mr. Li who led an array of Chinese officials for the signing agreement to implement the two projects said it is also intended to strengthen the existing bilateral ties between both countries.
He said besides the construction of the overpasses bridges, in the nearby future, his government hopes to develop another land at 14th Military Hospital as well as another project along the UN Drive Road in Sinkor.
According to the Chinese official, China will always support Liberia especially in its economic recovery process and other endeavors of the government in ensuring that the Weah-led Government reaches it potential.
“From our China’s Embassy, we will work hard to promote our two countries collaboration,” he concluded.
On behalf of the Liberian Government, Acting Public Works Minister, Ruth Cooker-Collins, thanked China for the continuous support to Liberia noting that for too long Liberia has yearned for these projects’ completion
“I am happy for this signing agreement today. I think this is great millstone achievement. We want to assure you that is always going to work with China in making sure that whatever that we have decided today will be done successfully,” Minister Collins assured the Chinese Government on behalf of Liberia.
As part of the Exchange of Letters signed since September 10, 2019 leading to projects between the Government of China and the Government of Liberia, the Chinese Government agreed to undertake two China-Aid Overpass Bridge Project on Tubman Boulevard in Liberia.
International Economic Cooperation of the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China and the Ministry of Public Works of the Republic of Liberia have reached the consensus on specific issues through friendly consultations and full exchanges of ideas and signed the Implementation Agreement of the Project under the terms and conditions hereinafter:
