By Solomon T.  Gaye

About US$ 2.3 million is said to have gone missing from Nimba account thereby breeding tension among outgoing members of the county administration and the legislative cuscus in the county.

Speaking in Ganta recently, the Fiscal Affairs Superintendent, Saye Musa, announced that the money that went missing from the county’s account is worrisome and needs immediate investigations.

According to Musa, he deposited LD 30.7 million and US$ 2.3 at the Central Bank of Liberia (CBL) on February 29, 2023 in Monrovia but the US dollars component was not reflected on the bank slip.

Saye explained, “I have been in the sick bush since the beginning of 2023 and I hand delivered the deposit slips to the PMC office but the staff admitted receiving the LD slip and denied ever receiving slip in USD.”

When this paper contacted the acting Superintenden,t Darius Vaye,  he referred the paper to Saye Musa on grounds that he is the Human Resource officer for the county.

But Vaye boasted, “I am the HR for the county, I do not deal with cash.”

When Representative Nyan Flomo was contacted via mobile phone, he confirmed the incident and assured that he set up a committee to probe into the matter, therefore, he referred the paper to Representative Derwan Gleekia.

Representative Gleekia confirmed the setting up of the committee to work with Saye Musa and referred the paper to speak with Representative Gaye on the issue.

This is the second allegations coming out against the outgoing county administrators in less than a month since the inauguration of the Unity Party government in the country.

During the beginning of March 2024, unknown persons burglarized the administrative building in Sanniquellie and stole three air-conditioners.
