Several aggrieved employees from the Ministry of Education have termed their immediate transfers as County education officer (CEO) and District Education Officers (DEO) couple with some being retired as a political witch hunt.
Alvin O. Flomo of Yarpeamah Lemuel G. Saye of Sanniquellie mah; Timothy N. Karlie of bain-Garr 2; Abel Legay of bain-Garr 1; Lee W. Dahn of saclepea 2; Oscar Gbengan of Saclepea 1; Lincoln G Kerbay of zoe- geh; Michael Goyee of Yarwin mehnsonnon as DEO were those named along with Moses Dologbaye who were relieved off their posts.
However, Dologbaye has also buttressed that the exercise leading to the recruitment process and appointment of CEOs and DEOs in Nimba was done illegally without observing the rule of law.
According to Dologbaye, the abrupt transfer of 10 DEOs in Nimba to the Southeastern region without resettlement packages violates the Civil Service Agency’s policies.
“According to Chapter 3 Section 4, 9 of the CSA standing order, before transfer is carryout, transfer must be notified for approval before processing and that no transfer must to be used as a punishment,” CEO Dologbaye pointed out.
“Education officers in Nimba with experience and higher credentials like post graduate diploma in education as well as master’s degree were replaced with people of low qualifications and inexperienced volunteers,” he revealed.
Since the end of March 2024, there have been reports that Dologbaye along with 10 DEO assigned at various education districts have been relieved but education stakeholders assigned in the county remain tight-lipped on the issue.
The MOE transferred Dologbaye to the Webbo Teachers Training Center as ‘C’ certificate trainers while the eight DEOs were assigned to counties in the southeastern region.
The Nimba Schools System comprises of 435 public school; 13 educational districts, 13 DEOs and CEOs respectively.
