Ahead of the Collaborating Political Party’s (CPP) convention to determine its marketable ticket for the 2023 general and presidential elections, Unity Party’s political leader, Joseph Nyumah Boakai has indicated that no candidate within the Collaboration is able to defeat the ruling party except him.
The former Vice President made the assertions over the weekend in a live interview with talk-show host, Pedro Henry Costa, at his Rehab residence in Liberia.
“It is not a caveat, it is an appeal; I am the only one who can take on President Weah and take him down,” JNB tells the opposition party’s leaders.
The former Vice President who criticized the ruling CDC-led government of poor leadership and rampant corruption, also alleged that the United States government’s refusal to support this government are clear indications that the US Government does not favor the Liberian government but his assertion against the government was harshly reacted to on social media by his supporters as well as other Liberians.
According to Boakai, the former football icon will be a one-term President comes 2023 with he [Boakai] leading the Collaboration.
The former Vice President who might be desperately fighting back especially after he was defeated by President George Weah during the Presidential runoff in which he was outrageously defeated in 14 counties out of 15.
It can be noted, at the Cuttington University campus recently where he served as guest speaker, Boakai disclosed that he will be the flag-bearer of CPP in 2023.
Meanwhile, former Vice President Boakai’s assertion has been greeted with mixed reactions from some constituent members particularly from the Alternative National Congress (ANC) who were heard describing his claim in an incendiary manner.
The collaborating party is comprised of former Unity Party (UP), the All Liberian Party (ALP), the ANC and the Liberty Party (LP).
