On Charloe Musu’s Murder Report: Justice Minister Denies Interference

By Bill W. Cooper
Justice Minister Frank Musa Dean has refuted reports circulating on social media that the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) is refusing to charge family members with the death of Charloe Musu.
Charloe Musu was the daughter of the former Chief Justice, Gloria Musu Scott, who died in February of this year following an alleged attack on her house in Brewerville outside Monrovia.
However, the Justice Minister’s clarification comes following the postponement of a planned press conference intended for the government through the Liberia National Police (LNP), the Justice Ministry and the pathologists to give the autopsy and investigative report to a later date.
This latest action has since caused serious mixed reaction among citizens across Montserrado and its environs with some accusing Minister Dean of trying to undermine as well as compromise the case with the intention of denying the deceased Charloe Justice.
But in his reaction to the concerns through a communication dated April 20, 2023 and is in the paper’s possession, the Minister reiterated that there has been no formal report from the Police inking Justice Scott and her family with the crime.
“As it stands, up to and including this moment, same being Thursday, April 20, 2023, 9: 00 A.M., the Ministry of Justice is yet to receive a written report from the Liberia National Police,” he stressed.
He vowed, “But I can assure you today that upon receiving a report from the investigation conducted by the Police, the Ministry of Justice under my watch will peruse it and the proper and appropriate decision shall be made based on the evidence.”
Dean, who is also the country’s Attorney general added further that his job is to procure the proper evidence to charge, and conduct or prosecute a person charged with a crime in order to defend in a court proceeding, and said, “And the Ministry is required to institute all legal proceedings necessary for law enforcement.”
Meanwhile, unconfirmed report reaching this paper says the government through the Ministry of Justice, the Liberia National Police (LNP) and the pathologists will this Thursday, April 27, 2023 release to the public the final autopsy and investigative report of the mysterious death of Charloe Musu.
Charloe was a graduating senior of the Smythe Institute of Science and Technology, and daughter of the former Chief Justice Scott who was stabbed multiple times thus leading to her death.
Other family members were also wounded but they survived the incident which occurred at around 9-10 P.M in Virginia.
Following the incident, the Police immediately launched an investigation, and invited several persons including those that were in Justice Scott’s home the night the incident occurred.
