In a bold step toward advancing women’s football in Liberia, Chief Law Enforcement Consultant and Intelligence Analyst Sam Saryon has declared his interest in becoming the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Republic Football Club, a lower women’s league club under the Liberia Football Association (LFA).

Speaking in an exclusive interview at his office in Sinkor on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, Saryon outlined his vision for the club and his broader commitment to the development of women’s football in Liberia.

Saryon expressed a deep personal connection to Republic FC, particularly through his relationship with team manager Essiaka L. Kromah. “Essiaka is like a son to me. I have known him for many years, and he has successfully managed the team. My intention is to boost his financial morale so we can effectively promote the team,” he stated.

Emphasizing the need for collective effort in overcoming challenges facing women’s football, Saryon pledged to invest in the sport and fully support Republic FC’s growth. “We will be investing in sports and supporting him wholeheartedly,” he affirmed.

Beyond Republic FC, Saryon articulated a broader goal of strengthening women’s football in Liberia, aspiring to see local teams compete on the international stage. “I want to see our team participating in international competitions and bringing home prestigious trophies to make our women and our country proud,” he said.

He highlighted the importance of supporting female athletes, emphasizing that their success contributes to national progress. “When you promote a girl child, you promote a nation,” he remarked, adding that the success of female players would bring pride and joy to the entire country.

Having recently attended two women’s football matches, Saryon expressed admiration for the talent on display. “I was very much impressed. I believe female players just need support; with the right encouragement, they can achieve their dreams,” he noted.

He also proposed strategic enhancements to women’s football in the upcoming National County Sports Meet, advocating for stronger collaboration between the Liberia Football Association and the Ministry of Youth and Sports to increase visibility for female players.

Saryon believes these efforts could attract international scouts and create opportunities for Liberian female footballers to gain global recognition. “We want to see these kids recognized and given the opportunity to play at international levels,” he said. With his leadership ambition and commitment to the sport, Saryon’s potential appointment as Republic FC CEO signals renewed hope for the future of women’s football in Liberia. “We must unite to elevate women’s football to new heights,” he declared.
