OES Fetes Orphans In Paynesville

The Naomi Chapter Number #12 Order of the Eastern Star (OES) of Liberia and Cedar Lodge number #14, AF and AM, Grand Masonic Temple of West Benson Street feted the Americans for Africans Orphanage Home located at 101 Community in Paynesville with assorted foods.
Items presented were 18 bags of rice, 1 five gallon of red oil, 2 large tin powder milk, 1 bag of flour, 1 big bucket of butter, 2 five gallon of Argo oil, 1 cartoon of cream of wheat, 1 cartoon of oat meal, 1 cartoon of mackerel fish, 1 cartoon of sardine, and 1 bag sugar.
Others were 1 cartoon of chloral, 2 cartoons of bath soap, 6 bags of pampers, 1 cartoon of washing soap, 12 sacks of toilet tissues and 4 bags of tide soap.
Presenting the goods early this week (Sunday) to the home, Worthy Matron Ellen J. Porkpa of the Noami number 12, O.E.S among many other things said that they pleased to identify themselves with the needy annually.
She said as their tradition dictates and as mothers they can never forget the unfortunate ones who are in dying of needs of help therefore as an organization they shall always stand with them.
In an earlier overview comment, Rosa W. Allen, General Worthy Matron Order of the Eastern Star recounted numerous assistances their organization has made not only to orphanage homes but hospitals and clinics in and outside of Montserrado County.
She said since the formation of their organization in the 1960s they being involved with charity everywhere from donations received from their members both in and outside Liberia to the needy.
Allen stated that charitable items received from their members whether cash or kinds are always presented to the needy because human beings need each other daily no matter your status in society.
In response, Oretha D. James, Director of Americans for African (AFAA) Orphanage Home expressed thanks and appreciation to the Order of Eastern Star (OES) and Cedar Lodge of the Grand Masonic Temple for the assistance.
She said nothing good had ever come to the Home as such point and time which they shall never forget, and with their hope and prayer, the Lord will replenish wherever it came from for the organization before giving to them or to the needy.
The ceremony held on Sunday, May 28, in the premise of the AFAA in the 101 Community in Paynesville was colorful to the extent that it brought together not only the families of the home but ordinary residents nearby.
