Nyonblee Describes Boakai-Koung Ticket As Victory Team

By Bill W. Cooper
The Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence’s faction of the Liberty Party (LP) has officially endorsed the Boakai-Koung ticket as the best alternative ahead of Liberia’s 2023 Presidential and Legislative elections.
At an expectedly elaborate ceremony in Grand Bassa County, the embattled political leader of the Liberty Party told cheering supporters that it was time to join the victory team to defeat by first-round incumbent President, George M. Weah of the ruling CDC.
Sen. Karnga-Lawrence, amidst cheers at the jam packed Fairground stated further that their decision to reunite with the JNB movement is of conviction that comes with what the Boakai-Koung ticket has to deliver Liberia from and that include years of bad governance and uncontrollable corruption.
However, the remaining team members who broke away from the CPP, that is the All Liberian Party, Benoni Urey and popular talk show host Henry Costa were noticeably absent from the ceremony but some observers said the endorsement by Senator Karnga-Lawrence might have come on a short notice thus preventing a proper preparation.
She maintained, “So, Amb. Boakai and Sen. Koung have asked me to be the Mother of the Rescue Team. I do hereby wholeheartedly accept to be the Mother of the Rescue Team because it is not about my political ambition but the suffering and ordinary masses.”
Senator Lawrence noted that she considers the interest of the country over individual interest and that the JNB-JKK ticket is the best to make Weah a one-term President.
The LP’s embattled political leader maintained that when they ignited the decision to team up with Ambassador Boakai to embark on a rescue mission few years back, they did so against the background of his public service records, qualification, experience and his love for country.
According to her, to simply disengage from former VP Boakai process on account of not being named as running mate would speak less of their honesty and commitment to contribute to the change that Liberia so deserves and finds in the person of Ambassador Boakai.
She added, “In consideration of the selfless agenda that we brought to the table when we embarked on the journey with this astute statesman and following two weeks of consultations with a broad spectrum of the membership of our party, stakeholders and sympathizers at home and abroad, I am pleased to announce that we wholeheartedly endorse the Boakai-Koung Ticket.”
Sen. Karnga-Lawrence at the same time urged every Liberian to join what she described as the ‘victory team’ and defeat the incumbent leadership by a resounding first round victory at the October 10, polls.
She asserted, “As we set the train in motion for the rescue mission, I call on all Liberians including our partisans and supporters across the length and breadth of Liberia and in the diaspora to join us to support this ticket. It is about the country and its future. Liberia stands to regain its lost image if we all work for the success of this ticket.”
“By this decision, we know that we are standing against some of the powerful people of this country. But please bear with us; it’s time to set a new agenda for our country. And we want to actively contribute in setting that new agenda. Let God be God and man be man,” the LP embattled Political Leader intoned.
In his acceptance speech, former VP Boakai thanked Sen. Karnga-Lawrence and team for the confidence reposed in him to lead the “rescue mission” team ahead of October 10, polls.
Ambassador Boakai who described the Grand Bassa County Senator as a “Unbelievable selflessness, rare selflessness” individual assured them and the citizenry of his commitment to end wasteful spending as well as corruption and to restore the country’s lost image internationally.
He added, “Thank you, Nyonblee, truly the Mother of this Rescue Mission! Thank you, Liberty Party. Together, Liberia and Liberians are about to be redeemed and rescued from the misrule of the Weah-led government.”
