One of Liberia’s 2023 Presidential aspirants, Franklin O. Siakor, says the security system under a Weah-led government is disarranged or disorganized in the country.
Siakor made specific reference to the Gbarnga Regional Hub which was built under the regime of former President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf with the so purpose of providing security for Bong, Lofa, and Nimba Counties but has been abandoned by its assigned security officers.
The Gbarnga Regional Hub was established and dedicated on February 12, 2013, as a pilot of five hubs, to provide justice and security services, confidence patrol, response to incidents of civil disobedience, surveillance patrol, and legal services.
According to Siakor, the pilot phase that serves Bong, Lofa, and Nimba Counties has been going through tough challenges that have led security assigned at the hub to leave reiterating, “There are no more security forces based at the Gbarnga Regional Hub.”
He said the security situation in Liberia is very reprehensible, noting that people have been killed under the Weah-led government and further alleged extra-judicial killings without proper investigation.
The 2023 Independent Presidential aspirant further said due to the lack of proper security operation under the former football legend government, Liberians are disappointed on grounds that the CDC government was elected in 2017 based on change, but the Weah government has failed the citizens.
He at the same time called on Liberians to reject the re-election bid of President George Weah in the pending 2023 general and presidential elections alleging that the Weah regime has subjected Liberians to poverty and untold sufferings, while government officials are getting rich overnight in the country.
He made the statement in Gbarnga, Bong County on April 24, 2023, when he appeared as a guest on one of the morning shows in the county.
Meanwhile when the Manager of Gbarnga Regional Hub Tokpah Gowee was contacted, refused to provide clarity on the alleged abandonment of the hub by security officers.
