The Mayor of Sanniquellie City, Zramein Z. Zinor, says the lack of operation vehicles coupled with lack of operational funds is hampering the smooth running of the City Government in Nimba County.
Speaking to this medium, Mayor Zinor explained that Sanniquellie City Cooperation is operating on empty bank account from the outgoing City Mayor Moima Kamara.
According to Mayor Zinor, the lack of logistical support and funds is among contributing factors in the increase of filths in the city and the communities.
“The lack of dump truck or cash to rent a vehicle to carry the dirt’s to the dumping site is a serious challenge for the running of the city,” Mayor Zinor said.
The newly appointed Sanniquellie mayor is among president Boakai’s executive appointees that replace the outgoing Mayor Moima Kamara in Sanniquellie.
Despite these challenges, Mayor Zinor boasted about cleaning of the main streets and other communities in the city.
“Since my administration, we were able to clean the main streets, opened some of the streets in the communities, we are doing all these works with the little cash we received from some friends,” Mayor Zinor pointed out.
Since the beginning of 2022, the outgoing mayor, Moima Kamara was among local authorities allegedly linked to the sale of public land from 2019, to the turning over of the government to President Joseph Boakai in 2024.
“We are appealing to the business communities and the residents to help contribute to the purchase of a garbage truck,” Mayor Zinor asserts.
