The Chairperson of the Transitional Committee Advisory Team (TCAT) of the Global Methodist Church (GMC) in Liberia, Rev. Jerry Kulah,, has cautioned members of the newly established church against the act of indiscipline, stressing, “No old wine in the new wine bottle.
Delivering the closing message at the “Liberia United Methodists For Biblical Christianity (LUMBIC)” awareness and mobilization conference in Gbarnga City, Bong County over the weekend, Rev. Kulah, said the church will not tolerate indiscipline from any of its officials and members.
Kulah, preaching on the theme: “Wake Up To The Dawning Of A New Day: Redeeming The Church From Scriptural Compromise” with text taken from Isaiah 60:1-2 and Ephesians 5:14-17, said it is about time that they wake up from every sinful practice that they have been involved with.
According to him, the United Methodist Church is in the state it is in because there is a massive compromise ongoing by people who think they know better than God, Jesus Christ, the Apostle Paul, and the prophets Jeremiah and Isaiah, indicating that such massive compromise will not be allowed in the GMC.
He advised that no one should carry old wine in a new bottle if they are serious about doing God’s business as officials and members of the GMC.
He further warned that women who have been living with men without being married or men who have been staying with women without being married must leave everything behind, noting that he’s ready to conduct the wedding in the church.
“So, in this Global Methodist Church, if you’ve been fooling around, living with a man that you’re not married to, that’s the old wine you must leave behind; and if you’re staying with a woman that you are not married to, that’s the old wine, leave it behind.
If you think you can be a pastor here, keeping two, three women, you’re making a mistake; no old wine in the new wine bottle,” he stated.
He challenged everyone within the GMC to wake up from the life of sin and spiritual darkness, fear, doubt and hopelessness to the life of faith and hope in Jesus Christ as well as from the life of sexual immorality to the life of sexual purity adding, ‘in this Church by the grace of God we will not tolerate indiscipline.’
Rev. Kulah also admonished the GMC congregation to wake up from witchcraft activities, deceits, lies, jealousy, envy, evil imagination, gossip, and backbiting to the life of righteousness and holiness because they are committed to spreading scriptural holiness across the land.
According to him, this is the dawning of a new day, the beginning of a new day in Liberia where God is about to do something new, different and better through the GMC’s officials and members.
But the TCAT Chairperson argued that if they are ready as a Global Methodist Church in Liberia for God to do something new, different and better as they attempt to accelerate the spread of the gospel of Jesus Christ, they should wake up, clean up and move on.
Kulah: “And I tell you, GMC, God is available for us. I have come to tell you that like the children of Israel, the people of Judah; if we are serious about God’s business, if we came to the GMC because we hate sin, because we don’t want to compromise the Bible, because we want to pledge our allegiance to Jesus Christ, we must wake up, clean up and move on.”
He said when the leadership of the church comes across such a person, it will counsel him/her and, when it is observed that he/she is not ready, then the leadership will tell the person involved to go for reflection to avoid people from contaminating the church.
Kulah also reminded the congregation that God has called them to the GMC to be light in darkness so that those in darkness will see the light and come to it.
He explained that the mission of the GMC is to make disciples of Jesus Christ who worship passionately, love extravagantly, witness boldly and to spread scriptural holiness across the world. We cannot do that if we cannot wake up, clean up and move on in the power of the Holy Spirit.
