Nimba Lawmaker Frowns On Gov’t

Nimba Electoral District Eight Representative, Larry younquoi, has disclosed of USD. 1, 000, 000, 00. for the people and administration of Nimba head by Superintendent Dorr Cooper. Representative Younquoi said that the money was given by the Government of Liberia through the Finance Ministry after series of engagements concerning payment of the County Social Development Funds credited by the Government of Liberia.
“The Legislative Caucus of Nimba recently engaged the government through Finance Minister, Samuel Tweh, to pay back some of the Social Development Fund’s huge amount owed by the government of Liberia to the administrations of the county fast track some of the infrastructure developments in some of the districts in Nimba,” Representative Larry Younquoi, acknowledged.
“The delay and refusal of Government to make available the money to carry out developments by fixing the county’s yellow machines, farm to market road, the construction of commissioner compound with damaged school buildings in Nimba County had been very frustrating,” Representative Younquoi lamented.
He stated further that that the government owes the County Social Development Funds USD. 35, 000, 000, 00. Had for the past several years refused to settle the arrears to the county, thereby creating serious hardship on the administrations, and Lawmakers elected to represent the people at the Capitol Building.
Speaking to citizens on Radio Kergheamahn Breakfast News, Representative Larry Younquoi, said plans are underway by Nimba Legislative Caucus to meet and discuss with the new management team of Arcellor Mittal Steel to open a new page with the company to put the CSDF in Nimba account rather than putting it in Government’s account for government to use it on credit.
The alleged refusal of Government to settle the CSDF credited is creating tension between local county authorities, Lawmakers and citizens because they are not working in the county to fast track fail government projects in 19 administrative districts in the county.
This is the second Nimba Lawmaker to frown on the government of President George Weah, in less than a year concerning the alleged refusal to settle arrears.
“We the 11 lawmakers need to put all friendship aside and engage President George Weah about the CSDF to demand the government to pay the money so as to carry out some developments in some districts that are in deplorable condition disgracing Nimba and its citizens,” said Senator Prince Johnson.
Godfather Johnson made the statement at the peace conference with Traditional Chief Council held in Ganta City with Representatives Larry Younquoi and Samuel G.kogar of Electoral District Five in Nimba County when Larry Younquoi threatened to drag Senator Prince Johnson to court.
