At long last, the Liberia Football Association National First Division league has drawn down the curtains for the 2023/2024 season with the Nimba Kwado facing relegation while Invincible Eleven and Kallon Football Clubs survive for the upcoming season.
It was the hardest decision determined by the last day match result after the thread of relegation rapped around the head of the traditional club Invincible Eleven and Kallon for many days because they both were the ones occupying the third and fourth spots from bottom with a point gap.
They both had a dramatic win in their individuals’ fixtures during the climax session of the league at match day 24 where Nimba Kwado lost to CEce United that were already relegated before match played in the round of fixtures.
The 3-1 defeat of Nimba Kwado by Cece United on April 10, 2024 at the practice pitch of the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex move them from 10th place to watch them ending the league in 12th place. On the same match day but at another venue, the TUSA field witnessed FC Kallon wining their surviving match against the Liberia Petroleum Refinery Company (LPRC) Oilers 3-0 to get a place among the 11 teams that will welcome three second division team promotion for the new season.
Invincible Eleven as well won Heaven Eleven Football Club 2-0 at the Antionette Tubman Stadium in Monrovia to book their own ticket in the topflight.
With the relegation of Nimba Kwado, Cece United and the National Port Authority (NPA) Anchors to the lower league, Black Man Warrior and Shaita Football Clubs in the Second Division league have been promoted to the National First Division League for the 2024/2025 season.
