The Ministry of Labor’s newly assigned commissioner in Nimba, Alex C. Suomie, is expected to tour in the county today, November 15, 2024.
Commissioner Suomie whose assignment takes immediate effect, has assured of working with the county’s administrations and employees as well as the various companies or the private sector in making sure that the rule of law is upheld in the county.
Commissioner Suomie, he was inducted into office on October 30, 2024, in Sanniquellie, Nimba County and replaces Commissioner Solomon Walker.
Nimba is among the 15 counties in Liberia that boast with huge companies yet, lacks an assigned Ministry of Labor agent at the various companies’ operation sites.
Since the beginning of 2024, report of aggrieved workers demonstrations in demand of salary is getting to be the order of the day and a common practice in Nimba.
Commissioner Suomie cited some intervention as the ongoing CRSG aggrieved workers’ in the country.
“CRSG has embarks on the payment of 202 aggrieved workers; some of them were dismissed illegally but, the Ministry of Labor intervened,” Commissioner Suomie asserted.
