Dr. Upjit Singh Sachdeva has encouraged graduates of the Booker T. Washington Institute to see risk-taking as a required action in order to explore the world market.
He said risk-taking is a method used to determine the strength of whatever a person may use to achieve success because successful people are risk-takers, because according to the Chief Executive Officer of Jeety Conglomerate; the graduates should see the future ahead as a world to explore pushing the best interest of Liberia.
Serving as the keynote speaker at the institution’s joint convocation ceremony over the weekend in Margibi County, Jeety disclosed, “You have the potential to achieve great things, and the world needs you. But you have to be a risk-taker and someone who is not afraid of failure.”
“So, seize every opportunity that comes your way as technical advancements have made the world a global village where boundaries and distances have become almost insignificant,” he said.
He urged the graduates and youths of Liberia to enhance challenges and learn from failures using the secret of successful people which states, ‘those who face challenges learn to innovate, and stay afloat.’
Using prominent business personalities across the world as examples, Dr. Sachdeva noted that his message at the commencement program to the graduates and the others was that risk-taking is necessary.
“Having a clear vision of what you want to achieve is more than necessary. Failures will come along the way but do not be frightened. To live, you must continually reinvent yourself, or else you will fall by the wayside and be forgotten,” he stated.
According to him, the Booker Washington Institute has exposed its students to ideas and concepts which have changed as a result of all true learning. He then advised the students to be curious in using their knowledge to their fingertips to explore and make Liberia a better place.
Dr. Upjit Singh Sachdeva commended the administration of BWI for its commitment and outstanding contribution to the development of youths across the country.
He said the institution for about 95 years since its existence has produced remarkable achievements in the lives of thousands of young people with prospects of giving the best to the country.
As a former member of the board of governors at BWI, the Indian businessman and partner to Liberia reaffirmed his willingness to support the institution as he has been involved into for over the years.
He also noted that the opportunity at BWI and other areas to acquire quality education comes with responsibility amid immense expectation; adding, “Our world is facing challenges that require your attention and action.”
He then urged the graduates to remember the value of their education and impact they can make in the world as they move forward. “You are the future of our workforce and I have no doubt that you will make us proud,” he asserted.
According to Jeety, more works need to be done as the country has just seven more years to become a middle income country based on its plan for her vision 2030.
Being optimistic of the Vision 2030 becoming a reality, the businessman noted that it appears that Liberia is long way of chances that this vision will be achieved if hard work is not done.
Meanwhile, Jeety has informed the administration of the Booker Washington Institute that the Jeety Rubber Limited Liability Company will soon begin operation in Margibi County and will undoubtedly provide employment opportunities to graduates of the institution.

According to him, the students; based on their performance on the job at the rubber processing factory, will be given permanent employment by the company.
