NDMA Director Participates In West Africa Disaster Management Meeting

The Director of Loss, Damage, and Recovery at the National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA), Asatu Z. Konneh has arrived in Abuja to participate in the Mid-term Consultation Meeting of the Regional Committee for Disaster Management in West Africa (GECEAO).
The meeting, which began on Tuesday, September 10 and concluded on Sunday, September 15, was a pivotal gathering of disaster management professionals from across ECOWAS’ Member States.
The agenda includes a review of the “Report on the 15th GECEAO Consultation and Reconstructions, “with member states expected to present on the implementation of recommendations from the previous consultation.
Director Konneh will be presenting Liberia’s stance on these recommendations.
In addition to reviewing past recommendations, the consultation will cover several key topics, including, the ECOWAS Regional Recovery Roadmap, the Draft ECOWAS Roster of Experts, and the Four Pathways of the Draft Resilience Strategy.
Discussions will also address Multi-Hazard Early Warning Mechanisms, Regional Strategies for Civil-Military Coordination, and ECOWAS Humanitarian Interventions.
The meeting aims to finalize recommendations and action points for each Member State and validate the ECOWAS Preparedness and Recovery Roadmap.
As the meeting wrapped up, there remain high hopes for constructive outcomes that will enhance disaster management across the region.
Director Konneh’s participation is a testament to Liberia’s commitment to regional cooperation in disaster management.
Meanwhile, the NDMA family expresses gratitude to Director Konneh for her dedication and astute representation of the nation on this important platform.
