NaFAA’s Suspended Boss Fights Back …Vows To Cooperate With Investigation

The suspended Director General of National Fisheries and Aquaculture Authority (NAFAA), Emma Metieh-Glassco has emphasized that she will spare nothing but protect her character.
She has decided not to pursue legal action against the President’s decision but vowed to uphold her character against anything or anyone who may want to tarnish her gains.
It can be recalled that on Thursday, February 13, the Liberian leader suspended with immediate effect Glassco upon NAFAA Board of Directors’ recommendation pending further investigation by the Ministry of Justice and the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC).
The Board resolved that President Boakai suspends her due to managerial and financial inefficiencies.
This recommendation is in accordance with Section 3.9.2 of the Act that established the Authority.
The President’s action also referenced a communication from the Office of the Ombudsman, which recommended Glassco’s suspension and investigation based on allegations of insulting behavior.
This conduct, considered unbecoming of a public official, was reportedly exhibited during an official investigation meeting.
The Ombudsman’s recommendation is based on Section 11.10 of the Code of Conduct Act.
President Boakai urged Glassco to fully cooperate with the investigations in order to address the concerns raised.
Madam Glassco has meanwhile expressed utter amazement by the allegations, especially considering the positive outcome from her last audit. She noted “I am deeply concerned about the motives behind the decision and the impact it has on my reputation.”
She expressed dismay on OK FM Thursday when she acknowledges that there may be a need for authorities to do their job, but will not allow anyone to defame her hard-earned character.
According to her , she remains stern on protecting her integrity, especially amidst serious accusations that she feels are intended to malign her character and discredit her service to the government.
However, Glassco has committed to availing herself to the process and ensuring the allegations are thoroughly addressed. Her admirers said her determination to clear her name shows how resolute she is to see the matter reach its logical and proper conclusion.
