Family members of imprisoned former Chief Justice, Gloria Musu-Scott, is calling on the Ministry of Justice to muster the courage and ensure that their family members get a fair trial in connection to the death of Charloe Musu.
The families, in a letter to the Justice Minister Oswald Tweh stated that they are convinced that the trial and conviction for murder of defendant Scott and some family members was intended to achieve political objectives of the government.
Introducing their new evidence to exonerate the defendant, the Musu family is requesting Minister Tweh to institute measures and actions that will ensure that the Police and the Ministry of Justice are not tools for achieving political objectives and malicious prosecution.
The family members who affixed their signatures to a communication sent to the Ministry of Justice lament that these are very serious and concerning issues to them that in their state of grief with one life lost, the ongoing persecution with four of their members who are languishing behind bars is a clear intention to disregard the opportunity to continue the investigation to find the killer(s) of Charloe.
“The Criminal Procedure Code of Liberia provides legal tools and mechanisms which authorized the Attorney general through Prosecuting Attorneys to prevent, correct and the miscarriage of justice, persecution and cruel and inhumane treatment of persons even up to the highest Court in Liberia,” they added.
