The Ministry of Public Works(MPW) is set to embark on a major road rehabilitation initiative across Pleebo Sodoken Statutory District, aimed at improving transportation and ensuring access to farm-to-market and house-to-house roads.
The project, sponsored by Pleebo Sodoken District Representative Anthony F. Williams, is a collaborative effort with the Ministry providing equipment and manpower, while Representative Williams finances the fuel, gasoline, and daily subsistence allowance (DSA) for the expert team.
Speaking to reporters on January 26, 2025, Maryland County Resident Engineer Maxwell Wesseh outlined the plans, emphasizing that the opening of alley streets in Pleebo City, including other feeder roads, will be a key focus.
According to Mr. Wesseh, the Ministry of Public Works will handle the technical aspects, while all financial obligations are being covered by Representative Williams.
The road rehabilitation project will span a total of 35 kilometers.
However, Mr. Wesseh urged residents to cooperate by vacating encroached alleys to ensure the successful execution of the initiative.
“This project is for the benefit of everyone,” Mr. Wesseh stated during a citizen meeting at Pleebo City Hall. “We hope the citizens will fully embrace it as it seeks to improve their daily transportation needs.”
He further disclosed that the work is expected to last for 17 days and appealed to those obstructing the alleys to clear the way for smooth operations.
Meanwhile, Pleebo City Mayor, Larry G. Geekor, lauded Representative Williams for prioritizing infrastructure development in the city.
Mayor Geekor noted that efforts to open alleys and rehabilitate roads have long been a concern, and he expressed appreciation for the collaboration with lawmakers and stakeholders to realize this goal.
The Mayor also confirmed the arrival of heavy machinery to commence the project, with additional equipment expected in the coming days.
Highlighting key areas to be addressed, Mayor Geekor listed Grand Public Junction Road to Zones 4 and 3 boundaries, Zone 1 Mission Town to the Ghanaians Community, Pleebo Small Market to Gebio Gate CRC, Bassa Community to the Total Freedom Ministry in New Pleebo, and Mission Town Asphalt Pavement to Diamond Deecal in New Pleebo, among others.
Mayor Larry G Geekor said the initiative is expected to transform Pleebo City’s infrastructure, providing much-needed relief to residents and improving connectivity within the district.
