The Ministry of Public Works (MPW) has officially broken grounds for the commencement of the Chicken Soup Factory Road Construction Project in Gardnersville.
This initiative aims to demonstrate the government’s commitment to improving infrastructure and accessibility for all citizens.
On November 24, 2024 President Joseph Boakai, instructed the Ministry of Public Works to prioritize the development of the community road in Chicken Soup Factory during this dry season after his visit to the Free Pentecostal Global Mission Church.
The President’s visit to the Free Pentecostal Global Mission Church highlights the importance of collaboration between the government and religious institutions in fostering community development and spiritual growth.
Responding to President Boakai’s directive, on Tuesday December 10, the Minister of Public Works Roland Layette Giddings along with his lieutenants officially broke the ground of chicken soup factory road.
Speaking with residents, Minister Giddings reaffirmed the President’s commitment to the construction of the Chicken Soup Factory Road and other urban community road pavements as part of the government funded road initiatives.
Minister Giddings, speaking to residents of the Chicken Soup Factory Community, rallied the support of the community dwellers to cooperate with the Contractor QE24 Group for a successful implementation of the project.
“The Ministry is under a statutory mandate to execute the President’s Development Agenda under the ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development (AAID), placing roads as a monumental priority,” he mentioned.
The Deputy Minister for Technical Services Prince Tambah stated that, the Project is a 4.1 kilometers stretch spanning the Chicken Soup Factory Junction to Johnsonville.
He noted that, the pavement is a concrete pavement. Adding that, the construction period is 24 months.
However, the Chairman of Chicken Soup Factory Community, William Yarngo thanked President Boakai for making good his promise to pave the road.
Mr. Yarngo also used the occasion to recount the many challenges the residents faced for years, terming the intervention today as ‘a dream come true’.
Meanwhile, Minister Giddings further inspected ongoing road rehabilitation works in several communities across Montserrado in keeping with his Urban Community Pavement Inspection of major road projects during the Dry Season.
He however visited the following roads where rehabilitation works are ongoing, the Freeport to St. Paul Bridge, Momo Town and Old Matadi to Lakpazee Road, amongst others.
