More Calls For Public Works Minister’s Confirmation –As CSNL Hails Weah’s Appointment

Since President George Manneh Weah’s appointment of Ruth Coker Collins as Minister of Public Works there have been many calls for her speedy confirmation by the Liberian Senate.
Collins was appointed on Wednesday, May 4, 2022, replacing the late Mobutu Vlah Nyenpan who served in the capacity from 2018 to 2020 but her appointment is subject to confirmation by that august body.
Meanwhile, the Civil Society Network of Liberia (CSNL) has hailed President Weah for the decision to appoint Coker-Collins as Minister-proper having acted as Minister of Public Works for almost two years thereby describing the decision as timely and appropriate.
In a press release dated May 4, 2022, the CSNL said the appointment will serve as a motivation for the female minister to do more, especially in the area of road connectivity, which has become one of President Weah’s most successful pillars of development.
The group has meanwhile called on the Liberian Senate not to delay Coker-Collins’ confirmation, entreating the Senate to speedily confirm her, in the interest of national development.
