Monrovia Football Club last weekend defeated Central Virginia based Daraja Football Academy an under-14 side 2-0 in a major but thrilling encountered.
The game was played on Monrovia Football Club’s pitch in Careysburg District, Montserrado County, and was witnessed by a sizeable crowd who perhaps stress was reduced that Sunday, 28 March.
Speaking after the game, DFA’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Melvin T. Panton, said he is not bothered by the score line because his kids are debutants or that was first competitive match when come to youth football.
He stated the intent of the match was to give his boys the needed experience and exposure in youth football because his academy is a new one which came into being less than 2 months now.
Panton said DFA played against a well-organized and experienced side like Monrovia Football Academy (MFA) that been in existing for years now is commendable.
He believes his side planned in playing more major test matches to continuously assessing his kids’ development through the game (football).
Daraja Football Academy which is in its formative stage has 24 kids (player) and 4 staffers (coach, assistant/physical trainer, medics and psychologist).
DFA is gear towards identifying and developing young talents into professionals to attract interest globally from professional football clubs.
