He stated that Cyber Security is new but a very important field in the information communication and technology sector because of increasing threats which has generated due to increasing use of the Cyber space daily.
Due to daily threats, Nyei rally calls for Liberians to see Cyber Security as parallel to their physical security and hailed the Monrovia Business School for such a meaningful training and awareness which he stated is key to the Country.
“I am very excited about the establishment of the Monrovia Business School (MBS)and it is a personal delight that MBS will provide specialized training in order for people to acquire basic skills in entrepreneurship, financial management including all aspects of business “, he added.
Deputy Minister Nyei stressed that in order to drive any economy one of things needed is a strong, skillful, competent and integral private sector, “a skillful private sector that will adequately drive the economy “, he re-emphasized.
As a result of such crucial importance, several government entities, he pointed out, are now migrating from manual to digital information and database systems respectively.
“The government has also launched an online procurement system where information of big companies will be stored for future purposes,” he noted.
He encouraged the participants to take very seriously the Cyber Security and awareness training which is very essential to their various institutions and the Country in general.
He told the trainees when they are well trained in Cyber Security, they will help in combating Cyber threats especially from hackers who used their unlawful acts for blackmailing purposes, the hacking of election systems and the spreading of misinformation intended to shape public opinions among others.
Meanwhile, the training with focus on the security sector is key as participants after the rigorous training process are expected to be certificated.
Liberia is gradually moving towards improving digitally as such, the justice sector needs to be aware of those cyber threats in a move to have them addressed appropriately.
