Ministry Of Youth And Sports Announces 2024 Intra-Governmental Tournament

The Ministry of Youth and Sports has revealed that the 2024 edition of the Intra-Governmental Tournament is scheduled to kick off on May 8, 2024.

According to MYS sources, to prepare for the event, which is exciting governmental entities, the Ministry and other stakeholders held the first meeting Friday, April 5, 2024, at the Samuel K. Doe Sports Complex in Paynesville.

Government ministries, agencies, and public corporations interested in participating in the tournament, are being urged to begin their registration process.

A registration fee of US$500 is required for entry, with the deadline set for Monday, April 22, 2024.

The Intra-Governmental Tourney is an annual sports initiative organized by the Liberian Government, through the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

It brings together employees from the three branches of government – the Legislature, Judiciary, and Executive – to engage in friendly competition and promote camaraderie among public sector workers.

The “Marine Strikers” of the Liberia Maritime Authority (LiMA) and the National Port Authority (NPA) kickball team emerged as the proud champions of the 2023 Intra-Governmental League.

The “Marine Strikers” showcased their prowess by defeating the Liberia Land Authority (LLA) with a commanding 2-0 victory.

The win marked a significant achievement for LiMA, securing their first championship title since 2001.

On the kickball field, the National Port Authority kickball squad continued their legacy of success by claiming the championship for the third time in the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MYS)-organized Intra-Governmental League.

In a fiercely competitive final, the NPA team emerged victorious over Land and Mines, solidifying their status as elite competitors in the league.
