Minister Kruah Awards 5 Scholarships To Pearson High

Labour Minister, Cllr. Cooper W. Kruah has provided five Scholarships to deserving students of the recent graduating class of   the John Wesley Pearson High School in Gompa City, Nimba County.  

Minister Kruah, during the occasion also assured of an increment in the number of beneficiaries from the county, precisely the youth of the Ministry’s annual Vacation Job Program for next year 2025.  

Making the presentation over the weekend, on behalf of the Minister, while serving as the 34th Convocation Speaker’, the Ministry’s Deputy Communication Director, E. Frederick Baye, spoke on the “Importance of Education for a Productive Labour Sector.” 

He expressed Minister Kruah’s support to the total growth and development of the country’s overall Labour sector, calling on the youth of Nimba to venture into applicable professions, including geology and mining engineering, among others. 

This, Mr. Baye narrated would help to fill the void of manpower expected to be created in a few years under the Ministry’s ongoing transitional program, allowing qualified Liberians to takeover jobs currently being occupied by aliens.  

According to the MoL Deputy Director, Minister Kruah is fully implementing the ‘Government’s ARREST AGENDA’ through “Liberians First for Job Placement” which aligns with the Labour Ministry’s relevant regulations; giving qualified Liberians special preference for economically viable jobs, some of which are currently being occupied by aliens. 

Director Baye also disclosed that the National Vacation Job Program which was reactivated just last year by Minister Kruah, garnering more than 358 part time jobs for most deserving students will be increased next academic year with more recruitment, stressing that students in huge investment conglomerate operations, especially in Nimba, Grand Cape mount, Bomi, Bong, Grand Bassa, Gbarpolu and Margibi Counties will substantially benefit.  

Mr. Baye, on behalf of Minister Kruah then urged the current graduates of the J.W. Pearson High School students to serve as goodwill ambassadors, making good use of the Labour Ministry’s scholarships to create opportunities for others. 

According to Baye, Minister Kruah’s one year scholarship offer to the first five outstanding 2024 Graduates of the J. W. Pearson High School entitles them to choose any university or tertiary vocational training colleges of their choice. 

He added that the Minister’s educational one year scholarship offer is also subject to review, in collaboration with the School Administration and The Labour Ministry for possible extension, with inclusion of more deserving students across Nimba County. Meanwhile, the Minister extended his deepest condolences to families of the late Nimba County Senator and former Ex-Warlord, Prince Yormie Johnson and His Honor, Judge Emery Paye for their passing.
