MIND Lauds LEC Acting M.D. Gonkerwon -Wants Gov’t Invest More In Electricity Sector

The Movement with Integrity For National Development (MIND) lauds Engineer Thomas Zailee Gonkerwon, an energy expert with over 30 years of experience in the electricity sector of Liberia serving in different positions
Speaking to newsmen during the honoring ceremony at the head office of the Liberia Electricity Cooperation (LEC) the Executive Director Sekou D. Sonii said the acting MD won the award ahead of fellow colleagues in the public sector as a result of a comparative analysis and researched done on individuals listed for the award which was voted by the board of directors, and executives to show transparency in the process
MIND congratulated the management and staff of the LEC for strengthening and developing the electricity sector with rehabilitation and the expansion of electricity infrastructure that are effective and efficient to the public.
MIND stated that it is importance for the public to recognized the efforts of the management team and staff at the LEC for the trust and dutifulness to service noting that though the management is currently faced with many challenges which require budgetary support from partners and the government.
MIND called on President Joseph Boakai to take seriously the importance of electricity supplies to the public which require an increasement in the budget of the LEC.
MIND expressed that it strongest position is that the economy growth that the country seeks can also come from the collections of taxes through electricity supplies to the public.
“We reiterate our appreciation to the acting MD, management, and staff of the Liberia Electricity Cooperation for continued good worked that is bringing pride to the Liberia Electricity Cooperation and the public,” the group asserted.
