The principal of the Ganta United Methodist senior high school James Y. Korlorblee, has disclosed the construction of a science laboratory in the wake of mass failure of 12th graders in sciences in the just ended government national examination in the country.
Speaking to the Inquirer in Gompa, Rev. Korlorblee explained that the construction of the science lab is designed to curtail poor performance of senior students in the sciences during the government national examination, otherwise known as WASSCE in the county.
The Methodist’s school principal observed that the lack of science lab within Nimba School system for students to do research is among contributing factors to the mass failure in the sciences.
“129 12th graders sat for the government national examination, and 123 passed while the rest failed,” Rev. Korlorblee reported.
“We want to take this time to appeal to all alumni of the Ganta United Methodist High School in Liberia and abroad to help the school with financial assistance to carry out the project before the opening of the next academic,” principal Korlorblee noted.
“This project involving the construction of a science lab and the five additional classrooms is estimated around US$ 23, 000 to complete,” the principal revealed.
Speaking on behalf of the teachers, one of the female teachers explained that the news of same sex marriage coupled with internal rivalry in the Methodist Church among some members and the bishop is creating fear among the residents and students attending the school.
Rev. Korlorblee disclosed that preparation for a graduation exercise for the 12th graders is underway and the ceremony will kick-off on December 22, 2024.
