The newly installed president of the Monrovia Consolidated School System Teacher Association (MCSSTA), Augustine N. Nyormui, has expressed his disappointment in government of Liberia to fail to implement the national policy document which was passed by the National Legislature and signed into law by the past administration.
Speaking during the weekend marking the historic induction of the MCSSTA’S leadership, the newly inducted president, Nyormui stated that the government of Liberia is to respect and implement the Educational Reform Act of 2012 that stipulated salaries for education professionals.
” We will amend some laws in our constitution to abort the recurrences of too many crises within our Association as professional people ; create standing committees for the purpose of good governance and increase the membership dues from Fifty Liberian Dollars to Two hundred Dollars monthly to enable the leadership functions effectively,” president Nyormui intimated.
He added that they will reassure membership, authorities, and special guests including audience that the leadership succeeds through the collective efforts including resources.
”We have already begun short terms welfare engagements with stakeholders ranging from illegal salary induction by unscrupulous individuals in authority; salary payment by using low rates contrary to the approved budget rates by the National Legislature; lack of human resource development /capacity building for our teachers, the lack of instructional materials for our teachers and regular salary adjustment for qualified teachers,” he said.
Those installed were, Augustine N. Nyormui, President; John T. Anglason, Vice President for Administration; Rufus A. Bryant, Vice President for Operation; Emmanuel Dickson, Secretary General and Nowomu D. Sondah, Assistant Secretary. Others are Samuel D. Russel, Financial Secretary; Paul Bill Nardoh, Parliamentarian; Ruth Y. Evans, Treasurer and Philip Toe Sayou Chaplain.
