MCC Strives To Maintain Clean City

By Linus Flomo
The Monrovia City Corporation has been carrying out its mandate by extracting 51 truckloads of garbage from the Center Street temporary holding center within the period of three days.
The intensive operation began on Monday, August 19, when the MCC Sanitation team cleared 20 truckloads of waste.
The efforts continued on Tuesday, August 20, with the removal of 13 additional truckloads and as of Wednesday, August 21, the team had cleared another 18 truckloads from the site, bringing the total to 51 truckloads.
The Supervisor at Center Street facility, Abraham Duo, explained that the site is currently being used as a temporary solid waste holding center.
This measure was implemented while the Fiamah and Stockton Creek transfer stations underwent major renovations and Duo noted that these renovations are now 90% complete and that the facilities will soon be reopened.
Duo also mentioned that garbage is collected from the Center Street site every 48 hours as part of MCC’s routine sanitation efforts in Monrovia.
This large scale cleanup is part of MCC’s ongoing commitment to maintaining cleanliness in the city during the renovation of key waste management facilities.
