Mayor Siafa Meets On Strengthening Monrovia’s International Ties

The City Mayor of Monrovia in a significant move to bolster Monrovia’s international relations, Mayor John-Charuk Siafa met with Jakob Haselhuber, the German Ambassador to Liberia in Monrovia over the weekend.
The meeting, as part of an ongoing effort to enhance the city’s global partnerships, focused on the city’s systemic reforms and future collaborations.
Mayor Siafa extended a warm welcome to Ambassador Haselhuber, offering an overview of the Monrovia City Corporation’s (MCC) current reform initiatives.
These measures, he noted, are crucial to improving service delivery across the city, with a particular emphasis on enhancing waste management efforts a persistent challenge for Monrovia.
“Capacity building, along with financial and technical support, forms the bedrock of our transformative vision for Monrovia,” Mayor Siafa stated, underscoring his commitment to modernizing the city’s infrastructure and governance.
Ambassador Haselhuber expressed his admiration for the ongoing reforms at the MCC, praising the city’s efforts to improve the quality of life for its residents.
He assured Mayor Siafa of the German Mission’s full support, highlighting Germany’s willingness to contribute to Monrovia’s development.
The Ambassador emphasized the importance of establishing sister-city relationships between Monrovia and cities in Germany. Such partnerships, he suggested, would pave the way for valuable professional and cultural exchanges, further enriching both nations.
As Monrovia continues its journey toward modernization, today’s meeting marks a significant step in fostering international cooperation and securing the support needed to achieve the city’s ambitious goals.
