The Margibi Sports Association (MSA) has expressed its sincere appreciation following the county’s impressive third-place finish at the 2024/2025 National County Sports Meet. In a statement issued by MSA Chairman Tonny Walker after the county’s match against Maryland County on Sunday, the association acknowledged the crucial support received from various individuals, groups, and organizations throughout the competition.
Walker emphasized that the team’s strong performance was made possible due to the generosity of numerous contributors, who provided both financial and moral backing. The MSA expressed its deep gratitude to those who supported the team, whether through direct contributions or by working with the steering committee.
The donations played a significant role in the team’s preparation and success. Chairman Walker specifically highlighted the importance of contributions covering expenses such as transportation, lodging, meals, and sporting equipment, all of which were vital to the team’s smooth participation in the tournament. Notable among the supporters was Assistant Minister for Teachers Education Clifford Konah whose U$2,500 donation helped secure the team’s lodging and transportation to Grand Gedeh County, along with the Senate Pro-tempore Nyonblee Kargar-Lawrence who gave the MSA Steering committee U$5,250.
Walker further praised the collaborative effort from the local community and beyond, noting that every contribution, no matter how big or small, made a difference in the team’s journey. “The support we received was overwhelming, and it greatly contributed to our performance in the tournament. We deeply appreciate everyone who played a role in making this possible,” he stated.
Looking ahead, the MSA according to Walker, remains committed to strengthening Margibi County’s sports programs and fostering partnerships that will lead to even greater success in future competitions. Chairman Walker expressed optimism that the relationships built during this competition would continue to thrive, ensuring continued support and achievement for the county’s athletes.
