The Liberia Land Authority (LLA) Chairperson, Adams Manobah, has admonished the newly inducted officials of the LLA to do the needful in the supreme interest of the Liberian people in the land sector.
In August of this year, President Joseph Boakai, in fulfillment of Chapter 4, Sec. 16 of the LLA and his constitutional mandate, nominated from within and out of the LLA three well-trained and experienced technicians to its Board of Commissioners.
President Boakai’s appointment affected the Department for Land Policy and Planning, now headed by acting Commissioner Ali Kaba; the Department for Land Administration, headed by acting Commissioner Mahmoud Solomon; and the Department for Land Use and Management, headed by acting Commissioner Uriah Garsini.
At the induction ceremony, Chairman Manobah said the LLA new acting Commissioners should consider their high level of expertise, qualifications, and professional experience when it comes to the Liberian land sectors.
Atty. Manobah further lauded President Boakai for his continued support of the decentralization of the LLA activity across the country and stated that with the presence of the newly inducted officials and with the help of the Board of Commissioners, it is now time to speed up the operations of the LLA.
Chairman Manobah said the development of any nation rests on land tenure and security, adding that there is a need for the sector to be looked at in terms of budgetary increment and that the sustainability of agriculture and food security, as enshrined within the government’s national agenda (ARREST), rests on land, thus, land plays a vital role in Liberia’s development.
Acting Commissioners Garsini, Kaba and Solomon pledged their commitments to strengthening and improving the Liberia Land sector, according to their various role at the LLA.
The LLA Acting Commissioners also applauded the President for the opportunity provided them to serve in said capacities; something they think will now pave the way to fulfilling their dream and aspirations thus supporting the growth and development of the LLA.
The Acting Director for Administration and Human Resources at the LLA, Varney V. Sheriff, also commended the President for his high level of farsightedness toward the nominations of the LLA’s acting Commissioners.
The acting Director for Administration and Human Resource stated that the President’s farsightedness is based on the undiluted facts that those nominated and now inducted have the technical expertise and high-level professional experience in the land sector thus paving the way for great impact, countless significant productivities within the land sector, and the proficiency and well-being of LLA staff.
The Vice Chair for Administration and Customer Service at the LLA, Joe K. Williams, called on his colleagues, now acting Commissioners, to do what is in the best interest of the institution and staff.
Mr. Williams underscored the need for them to place at aside their interests and prioritize the supreme interest of the institution and staff, something he said will contribute greatly toward paving the way for them to be confirmed.
He emphasized that based on his colleagues’ huge technical expertise, practical experience, qualifications, and work outputs, he believes that his colleagues will bring the institution to an expected level and subsequently shall be confirmed by the Senate.
