The Liberian National Police has sent a man identified as Christian Williams for allegedly presenting fake death certificate to the US Embassy in order to travel to America.
Defendant Williams, 42, and a resident of Airfield community in Monrovia was arrested for the alleged crime of Forgery on May 24, when he presented a fake certificate of death claiming that said deceased Victoria Reeves was his mother and he needed to go and attend her funeral in the United States of America.
According to the police charge sheet, it was established that defendant Williams on May 25, went at the United States Embassy near Monrovia for interview where he presented a fake and fraudulent certificate of death.
The alleged fake documents were given by the Meekey Memorial Hospital Urgan Care Litcheield Minnesota, United State of America insinuating that said medical investigation facilitate that his alleged mother Victoria Reeves died on April 25, therefore he should be granted visa to attend the funeral activities.
Accordingly, the LNP revealed that the fake and fraudulent certificate of death state that Victoria Reeves died as a result of natural causes.
The police charge sheet stated further that the fake and fraudulent certificate of death state that the deceased, Victoria Reeves, was taken to the Johnson Hagglund Funeral & Cremation Service after death.
Meanwhile, when the US Embassy contacted the Johnson Hagglund Funeral Home located in Minnesota, they informed the U. S. Embassy through email on May 24, that they did not find Victoria Reeves in their files or in the state of Minnesota’s death certificate database.
However, the police disclose that defendant Williams also purported to be a medical doctor and was also displaying a name tag on his chest bearing the name Dr. Williams.
