The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) has confirmed the arrest of a male possessing and distributing illegal narcotic substances at the Timbo Checkpoint, a key transit point in Grand Bassa County.
At approximately 6:15 PM on Saturday, April 19, 2025, LDEA officers intercepted Prince Bee, a 35-year-old Liberian national, during a routine inspection.
The officers discovered 15 plastic bags of Kush and one full plate of marijuana concealed in his belongings.
According to the LDEA, the estimated street value of the substances is as follows: Marijuana: LR$ 30,000, Kush: L$37,500, Total Value: L$67,500.
Upon questioning, Bee was unable to present any license or authorization for the possession or transport of the substances.
He was immediately taken into custody.
Following preliminary investigations, the suspect was formally charged with unlicensed possession, sale, and distribution of controlled substances—a direct violation of the Amended Drug Law of the Republic of Liberia.
LDEA officials transferred both the suspect and the seized narcotics to judicial authorities for prosecution. The court is expected to schedule a hearing in the coming days.
Timbo Checkpoint, located along a major roadway connecting rural and urban centers, has become an important focus for the LDEA’s highway interdiction strategy.
“We are intensifying our presence at key checkpoints to disrupt drug trafficking routes. This arrest shows that traffickers will be caught regardless of how they try to move their products.”
The LDEA reiterated its commitment to protecting Liberian communities from the growing threat of narcotic drugs.
The agency called on citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity that could aid in identifying drug distribution networks.
