The Law Reform Commission (LRC) of Liberia is set to host a one-day stakeholders’ review on anti-corruption laws and the Code of Conduct (CoC) for public officials and government employees on Tuesday, April 15, 2025.
The event begins at 8:00 a.m. at the European Union Embassy in Mamba Point, Monrovia.
According to a press release issued by the LRC on Monday, the review is part of the Commission’s mandate to assess existing laws in line with international best practices.
Discussions are expected to potentially lead to amendments or the repeal of sections within the Penal Law, Criminal Procedure Law, Civil Procedure Law, and other relevant statutes.
Participants will include representatives from key anti-corruption institutions such as the Office of the Ombudsman, Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC), General Auditing Commission (GAC), Ministry of Justice (MoJ), and the Asset Recovery Task Force.
Also expected to be in attendance are delegates from civil society organizations, including the Center for Transparency and Accountability in Liberia (CENTAL) and the Press Union of Liberia (PUL), as well as international development partners like the European Union, the Swedish Embassy, and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
The review aims to foster collaboration among stakeholders in identifying legislative gaps and proposing reforms that strengthen the fight against corruption and promote accountability in public service.
Established in 2011 by an Act of the Legislature, the LRC is tasked with the systematic development, reform, unification, and codification of Liberian laws.
