The Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) has with immediate effect, shut down Srimex Oil and Gas owned by Musa Hassan Bility over alleged tax invasion.
Bility’s Srimex storage facilities at the Liberia Petroleum Refinery Company (LPRC) and the Star-Base were on Tuesday afternoon, May 7, 2023 ordered shut down by enforcers of the LRA at the Petroleum Service Terminal (PST).
Additionally, the team of LRA Tax enforcers also proceeded at the Star-Base to an additional three large shortage facility of Srimex which was also shut down according to report.
However, information had it that Srimex has refused to pay government taxes since 2018; according to African Entertainment News (AEN), Mr. Bility is expected at the LRA this morning at 10: A.M. to show cause why he should not be held for tax invasion.
Furthermore, there has been no official statement from the LRA or Sirmex over the latest impasse between the two institutions.
In recent period, Srimex, an oil and gas company including other business entities has been seriously entangled in enormous debts originating from the National Road Fund.
According to some reports and dossiers, Bility’s Srimex is owing the National Road Fund (NRF), a whopping US$4, 753,129 while another petroleum company, identified as Conex Petroleum Service, is indebted to the NRF in the amount of US$ 8,126,797.
