LPMC Community Residents Unhappy With Depot Operations

Residents of the LPMC Community in Ganta City are reportedly living in fear over alleged Security harassment and extortion of money by some officers of the LPMC Police Depot.
Speaking to this paper on behalf of community members, Roseline Sackie, explained that the alleged extortion of money, flogging of motorcyclist and harassment of peaceful residents during the night hours by Police assigned at the LPMC Depot in Ganta Bain-Garr District in Nimba County.
Speaking to this paper on the same issue, Estella Paye and Yei Dolo accused the LPMC Police Depot of allegedly demanding some LD 300 as collection for arresting fee, couple with LD. 200 as collection for registration of case fee before Police investigate any matter involving marketers.
Since the establishment of the LPMC Police Depot and assignment of several uniform officers including PSU Abel Nyensuah from Monrovia to fight crimes, relationship between the community and the Police is getting from bad to worst over reported security harassment, and extortion of the residents’ meager resources in that part of the county.
LPMC contained 19 communities with one Police Depot, eight assigned LNP Officers but marketers continue to complain stating, “We are tired of state security giving us hard time; we will not take part into the election until those LNP officers currently at the LPMC Depot are removed from the Depot.”
A prominent resident, Jerry Weamie, also accused LPMC Depot of setting road block every night at LPMC junction and called on the Ministry of Justice to intervene so that residents are free to move at night.
When this paper contacted the Ganta, LNP station charged of quarters, LNP Commander Archie Dennis left for parole and when this paper contacted the Police Depot at the LPMC junction, PSU Commander Nyensuah denied all allegations level against LPMC Depot.
He expressed that all those complaining of police harassment are against the LNP but reneged on denying or confirming whether or not he is fond of boasting about his relationship with Police 102 in Monrovia for which residents are made to believe makes him untouchable.
