Local Transfers Update

With the January transfer window now open on the domestic scene, there’s plenty of gossip swirling about who’s moving from one team to another in all divisions of the Liberian leagues. As the process continues, there are several reports on player sales at all levels, which captures prospects and possible move of Shaita Football Club player, Momo Blamo, to Black Man Warrior.
It is no secret that the Riverside club, Black Man Warrior FC, came close to capturing the signature of the LFA National Second Division Most Valuable Player and Golden Boot winner, Momo Blamo, at which time the player opted to extend his contract with the Careysburg outfit club, Shaita FC, instead.
According to a source from Black Man Warrior FC, they are willing to make Momo Blamo the highest transfer player in the club’s history, and also the highest transfer player of the 2023/2024 January transfer window.
As it stands, Momo Blamo is among the few highest earners at Shaita FC, but his move to Black Man Warrior FC could make him the highest earner in the club’s history.
Though some believe that the Second Division League MVP and Golden Boot winner has not been at his best this season, he is currently the club’s highest goal scorer in all competitions, recording 15 goals to climax the first phase.
On the other hand, Blamo is very much eager to see himself in the top tier league, as Wantaga FC are reportedly also monitoring to provide an option for him if he chooses to move to the top tier.
According to reports, among the reasons why Blamo could leave the Careysburg outfit is the fact that he not the highest earner. The club’s decision for not having him as the highest earner, despite his many goal contributions to have the team making tremendous moves in the national league, according to sources, could influence his deal to Black Man Warrior.
Elsewhere, Watanga Football Club defender, Henry Sakama, is on the target list for Shaita FC, to boost their defensive backline in the upcoming second phase of the league that is expected to get underway after the festive season.
It is also reported that the former FC Fassell player, who also played for Barrack Young Controllers’ team two, is on the verge of leaving the former National First Division League Champions, Watanga, with his next destination being projected to be Shaita FC.
Sources further explained that if all goes well with the sale of Henry Sakama to Shiata FC, loanee, Henry Korfeh, could also go back, as the player is desperate for a return to the top flight of domestic football.
In the women’s category, Senior Pro Female Football Club is expected to pay almost half a million for 18-year-old female star, Decontee Jackson, in the First Division Women’s League, from Ambassadors Football Club.
Ambassadors FC has not agreed to let Decontee go after the departure of Miatta Morris. Miatta joined Shaita Angels for a fee of around US$1000. Miatta and Decontee had a spectacular season with Ambassadors FC during the 2021-2022 season.
Senior Pro were asked to activate her one-million-dollar release clause with the involvement of the Liberia Football Association for Decontee, after the player had filed several complaints against the club. Decontee has stopped training with her club (Ambassadors) after putting in a transfer request, despite still having a contract with team. The Women’s First Division First Phase has ended and she has not played a game.
Decontee is known for her goal-scoring prowess. In 2020-2021, she scored 34 goals. 2021-2022, she finished as the top scorer in the Women’s Division with 38 goals. She was named in the Women’s Football Most Valuable Player race for two years in a row, 2021-2022 and 2023-2024. The first one was won by Bountu Sylla and the recent one won by Miatta Morris. She has been called to the Women’s National Team that will travel to Sierra Leone for the friendly match.
