The Director General of Liberia National Fire and Rescue Service (LNFRS), G. Warsuwah Barvoul has outlined his entity achievements for the year 2024.
In an interview with this paper, Director Barvoul said that 30% of his administration’s senior staff is comprised of females stating that they have been appointed to positions such as Assistant Director of Administration, Assistant Director of Gender and Social Protection, Chief of Finance, Director of Procurement, Human Resource Director, Assistant Regional Directors, stations and ship commanders across the country.
Outlining his administration’s successes since he took over at the LNFRS, he said in partnership with the International Development Law Organization (IDLO), 26 Female Fire Service Officers were trained in Heavy Duty Driving, 60 officers reflecting both females and males were also trained in Information Communication Technology (ICT) at Blue Crest University and African International Institute of Science and Technology (AIIST) to enhance effective service delivery.
“In our 2024 budget, we procured and processed 6 Fire Trucks, 2 Fire Jeeps, 3 Water Tankers, operational vehicles and a bus for our staff. In addition to those, also procured two set of uniforms for each of the officers, motorcycles for those officers assigned at county level,” he explained.
He further stated that his entity was able to raise over two hundred thirty-two thousand United States dollars (US$232,000) and one million twenty-four thousand, nine hundred forty Liberian dollars (L$1,024, 940) in revenue for the Government of Liberia in 2024.
“We have activated the Fire prevention awareness which has helped to provide education to the general public since we took over this entity,” Director Barvoul stated.
He concluded by stating that in 2025 his entity will embark on the construction of sub-stations in the leeward counties, recruit, train and equip additional officers.
