LKF Kicks Off New League Season-As Destiny KC Stun Former Champions

The Liberia Kickball Federation has kicked off the 2024 edition of the National Kickball League for all clubs participating in the first and second division leagues, with Destiny Kickball Club winning former champions, Community Youth Empowerment in their first match of the league.
Destiny KC were down from the first inning, but became forceful from the back of CYE in the second and third innings to double the score ahead of the former champions of the federation, in a game filled with tension from a competitive fixture on Saturday, March 9, 2024.
Destiny, with a determined and creative side, kept a home run advantage to win the experienced CYE side on a 5 to 4 home run score line.
It was a class and super competitive encounter as spectators and fans of both clubs were on their heels until the end of the final whistle from the referee.
The win, which marks the beginning of the new league season for both sides, was used by Destiny KC to show case its players and guide them on how the league will be creating into their mind, the seriousness of kickball that made them lose last season on home runs.
According to the president of Destiny KC, Emmanuel Weedeey-Conway, the win for his side was a hard-earned one and the players fought for it with all their talent and energy.
“It was a fixture to prove myself after leaving CYE as former president, and we did that as a team and in a fantastic style. I appreciate my players and the entire technical staff, but we still have a lot more to do,” Weedee-Conway added.
He also encouraged his team to see the win as a big stepping stone for them to do more and to eventually achieve their objective of this new league by winning the championship.
“I trust my team, I believe in my technical staff, and I am confident that the new league season is ours; there will be some difficult times, but as a unit, we will overcome them,” he told our reporter.
According to him, his club showed supremacy in defense and maturity in attacks, and such combined characters helped them salvage their first three points against a well-organized and experienced CYE side.
Meanwhile, Destiny KC will play their next game on next Saturday in continuation of the new league season as the players are expected to resume training next Tuesday, following two days of break.
