Lions Club Concludes District LEO Symposium

The Greater Monrovia Lions Club of District 403A2 has concluded a successful District LEO Symposium.
The symposium which is an annual event was intended to further educate the LEO who are predominantly young people relative to the aims and objectives of the club specifically offering their services to humanity.
Speaking after the symposium at the Chamber of Commerce in Monrovia recently, the Region Chair of District 403A2 Lions Club, Felix Saint-Jean, disclosed that the LEO is an essential component of the Lion’s Club because they are feeder of the club saying that they place serious emphasis on them.
According to him, they discussed the means as well as ways of recruiting new members for the club and most importantly the mechanism that can be put in place aimed at retaining them.
“Our concern is maintaining the growth of the membership because we are contemplating on transforming the country to a district within two to three years,” he added.
He noted that there are presently 10 Lion Clubs in Region District 403A2 but one being located in Sierra Leone, the rest are Greater Monrovia Lions Club, Ducor Lions Club including Cape Mesurrado Lions Club as well as Sinkor Lions Club, among others.
The Region Chair for the Lionist year 2022-2023 added that they have a mentoring program for the LEO as they have plans to establish a LEO District in the near future in order to buttress the membership drive pointing out that the Greater Monrovia Lion’s Club will continue to provide the needed services to the society as it had done in the past evident by several donations the club has made to the John F. Kennedy (JFK) Medical Hospital Eye Clinic and other places.
Lion Tony Hage, who is referred to as senior lion by the entire membership, has called on every member to register which he stated will show that the club is serious owing to its numerical strength.
“We have also been working for Liberia to have a Governor in the future,” he stated.
The president of the Greater Monrovia Lion’s Club, Margaret Clarke Youboty, commended the LEO for their participation in the symposium and urged them to be committed to serving humanity as it is the core objective behind the establishment the organization.
“Where there is a need, there is a lion,” she intoned.
