LINPAA President Gets Additional 4 Years Mandate

Members of the Liberia National Physicians Assistants Association (LINPAA) over the weekend in Voinjama, Lofa County, elected president Theophilus Fayiah and other corps of officers to steer the affairs of the association for the next four years; thus giving the LINPAA’s President-elect additional four years after his two years mandate got expired.

Those elected at the Voinjama Congress of LINPAA were: The president, the Vice presidents-elect for Administration & Operations, the Secretary-General-elect, and the Chaplain. Other positions not contested would be subsequently filled in by appointment through the office of the President.

The position of Vice presidents-elect for Administration and Operations was created at the recent congress in Voinjama, Lofa County.

In his victory speech, the president-elect congratulated all those who participated in the elections, calling for them to put electoral activities behind them and move the institution forward.

He continued: “I appreciate you all for attending and participating in the democratic process today in the city of Voinjama. LINPAA has spoken by electing a new leadership to spearhead her activities. I am grateful to you for entrusting me with your votes, I promise to be a leader for all.”

The LINPAA President-elect further encouraged others who contested but did not win, that they all were winners collectively; but the institution is the overall winner.

“I want you to know that I appreciate your hope and aspirations for LINPAA to move to a greater level, we will work with everybody to ensure the association reached its full potential,” he emphasized. Mr. Fayiah also expressed his satisfaction about the manner and form in which the elections were conducted. 

It can be recalled that recently that members of the Liberia National Physician Assistants Association at a congress, gave a second-term mandate by electing Mr. Fayiah, who defeated his colleague, Abraham Beh, 45 to 4 votes.

The incumbent Vice President, Amstrong Josiah, won narrowly with one vote defeating Mr. Jeff Barlea, 25 to 24 votes. While Famata Kamara, was elected Secretary General, and Physician Anthony C. Suah won on white ballot as Chaplain.

Prior to the election, the Constitution of LINPAA were reviewed, validated  and adopted by delegates, with the following be modification that no Physician Assistant School be headed by a non-Physician Assistant; that the official celebration of the Physician Assistants Day  be held from October 6th to the 12th each year instead of November.

Furthermore, the congress also voted and adopted that the position of Vice President for Administration and Vice President for Operation positions be created. While the tenure of the leadership be changed from two years to four years. And that the Board Chairman be nominated and confirmed during the institution’s convention.
