Four Liberian martial arts coaches have concluded training on the “Level-2” Kyorugi online coaching program to increase their individual capacities for the development of taekwondo across the country.
With support from Go Team Liberia and the World Taekwondo Education Department, the beneficiaries completed the Level-2 Kyorugi online coaching training recently, which qualified them to coach both the junior and senior national teams at international competitions.
According to officials of the Liberia Taekwondo Federation, the training is meant for Liberian taekwondo coaches to be knowledgeable about the modern techniques of the sport.
The training follows after Liberia’s poor performance in the 2024 All African Games in Ghana.
According to reports, Liberian coaches were not knowledgeable about modern techniques before slating the Level-1 training in April of 2024.
After all coaches passed the Level-1 test, there was one month of special study of rules before taking the Level-2 training course and test.
Coaches who passed the level-2 training course are Senior National Team Head Coach, Master Thomas Wleh; Senior National Team Deputy Coach, Master A. Cephas Weeks; Junior National Team Head Coach, Master J. Henry Dee, and Junior National Team Deputy Coach, Paul Dennis.
The President of the Liberia Taekwondo Federation, Master Junior Pee Wee Russian, was also part of the training and received Level-2 certification.
