Liberian Defender To Kickoff New Season In Sierra Leone

Liberian defender, Sangay Moulton, is set to mark another successful year in the Sierra Leonean Women Premier League, following an impressive 2022/2023 season with Mogbwebo Queens.
Sangay joined the Sierra Leonean champions from Liberian club, World Girls, in the summer of 2022. Since then, she has cemented her spot as one of Mogbwebo Queens’ most consistent player.
Back home, during her playing days with Earth Angels and World Girls, Sangay was widely known for exceptional attacking runs and defensive composure, which have been key factors in her side’s title success last season.
Sangay’s overall performances during the 2022/2023 league season, and the confederation of African Football (CAF) Women’s Champion League zonal qualifiers hosted in Liberia, were enough to convince newly appointed Women National Team coach, Selam Zeray Kebedi, to hand the young player her first ever call-up by the Ethiopian gaffer for Liberia’s African Cup of Nations qualifiers against Cape Verde last October.
Earlier this year, Sangay marked her first ever appearance in CAF women inter-club competition, where she featured for Mogbwebo Queens in the qualifiers.
Her club finished the qualifier bottom of the group, following consecutive defeats to Determine Girls of Liberia, Senegalese women’s champion, AS Dakar, and a hard-fought goalless draw with the zonal qualifiers’ winner, AS Mande of Mali.
Despite not progressing to the next stage of the competition, players of Mogbwebo Queens were highly appreciated for their level of competiveness during their first ever CAF Women’s Champion League qualifiers.
Mogbwebo Queens, for their part, had a decent year to cherish by finishing 6 points clear of runners-up, Kahunla Queens, to win the first ever edition of the Sierra Leonean Women Premier League.
With a breakthrough year to remember, Mogbwebo Queens became the first Sierra Leonean female club to participate in the CAF Women’s Football Competition.
With so many honors to her name, Sangay will be eager for more success when her club kick off their title defense on December 23, 2023.
