Liberia To Get Cote D’Ivoire’s Support In Electricity, Others

President Joseph Boakai has revealed plans by the Ivorian Government to support Liberia through the areas as Electricity, Security, and Agriculture, amongst others.
The President made the disclosure over the weekend, upon his return into the country, following his official one-day state working visit to neighboring Ivory Coast.
While in the Ivory Coast, the Liberian leader met his Ivorian counterpart, President Alassane Ouattara, and was bestowed with that country’s highest honor.
The President said, during his stay, he was also fortunate to have visited the CLSG power station, coupled with the touring of the Ivory Coast Agriculture sites and an interaction with the Liberian community, among others.
Speaking to reporters upon his arrival at the RIA, Boakai described his trip to the Ivory Coast as fruitful, hailing President Ouattara for his willingness to assist Liberia in key areas.
On Electricity, President Boakai disclosed that Ivory Coast has agreed to expand its grid to Liberia in order to increase electricity supply, which will eventually benefit Liberians.
The President emphasized that the promise from his Ivorian counterpart, once accomplished, would be a great boost to Liberia amidst the electricity challenges affecting the country.
For Security, Boakai emphasized that the both countries are concerned about the issue in the subregion, with a setting up of a joint commission to gradually address the situation.
Meanwhile, in terms of Agriculture, which is one of the government’s key priorities, President Boakai assured that his administration will tap in the good experience of Ivory Coast as the 4th food-sufficient country in the sub region.
This, the Liberian leader stressed, would adequately help strengthen Liberia’s Agricultural sector aim to graduate from subsistence farming to mechanized farming.
According to him, Ivory Coast has committed to helping Liberia in so many ways, and as such, his administration, on behalf of the citizenry is glad for such assistance.
Boakai also vowed to work along with President Ouattara to further strengthen the already good and existing ties/relationships between the two countries.
