LIBA Diaspora Prexy Ends Visit

The Liberia Business Association in the diaspora (LIBA) President, Jackson K. George over the weekend concluded his one-week tour and assessment visit to his counterpart in the country.
Speaking at the headquarter of the Liberia Business Association (LIBA) in Paynesville, Mr. Jackson said that his visit to the country was triggered by his counterpart previous visit to the United States and his interest to help in building the capacity of Liberia own businesses.
Mr. Jackson who is also the founder of the Strategy Africa Consulting for Growth also disclosed that a delegation from the US is expected in the country next month March to finalize discussion with her sister LIBA in order to jumpstart the program for registered LIBA members.
The USA LIBA president noted that the coming of the delegation to the country next month is to help invest the nation’s Educational Sector, Agriculture, Health, Transportation and the provision of loans for small businesses for empowerment, emphasizing that if those sectors are to improve, the country is destined to progress for the betterment of the citizenry.
He added that for so long Liberia own businesses had been marginalized and that it is the time for the citizenry to take hold of their own economy, stressing that the rebuilding process of the country solely depends on Liberians.
Meanwhile, the LIBA diaspora boss has stressed the need for more foreign investment in order to help in the rebuilding process of the country, adding that it is time for more foreigners to increase investment in order to help provide job opportunity for Liberians.
He alluded that foreigners should now let go of the building of local shops and stores for Liberian and invest more in factories, averring “the building of factories by investors will help diversify the country economy and help put Liberians on par with other nations around the world.”
For his part, the Liberia LIBA chapter president, James M. Strother lauded his counterpart for the visit to the country, noting that his visit came at the time when the country own businesses had been facing challenges from all angles.
Mr. Strother revealed that both the USA and Liberia LIBA are working in consultation with government as the regulator to ensure that protection of the Liberian own businesses are prioritized, indicating that some of the labor law is not in the interest of the Liberian businesses but instead, affecting it to the fullest.
He added that through the collaboration of the LIBA diaspora delegation and the Liberia LIBA, the country local businesses grow and experience massive improvement, while at the same time urged business owners to register with the institution in order to benefit from micro loans when available.
