LFA Awards Meets Fulfilment As MVPs Ride New Vehicles

The Liberia Football Association (LFA) Awards for 2024 reached a triumphant conclusion as the winners of the Most Valuable Player (MVP) titles in both the Upper Women’s League and the Topflight First Division League were officially presented with brand new vehicles. This special moment of celebration took place on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at the LFA Headquarters, where football icons Abdulai Yaya Bility and Erica Parson, who had claimed the prestigious MVP awards the previous weekend, were handed the keys to their new vehicles. This gesture fulfilled a promise made by Doxx Bet Liberia, the primary sponsor of the awards, to provide these valuable prizes to the top players at the end of every season.
The event, which was attended by key football stakeholders, including LFA President Mustapha Raji, was a clear reflection of the progress and commitment to transparency in Liberia’s football landscape. Christopher Hayes Onanuga, the Chairperson of the 2024 Awards Committee, presented the vehicles to the MVPs, expressing pride in the successful execution of one of the most highly anticipated football celebrations in the country.
Onanuga acknowledged that the awards committee’s goal was to ensure a colorful event rooted in transparency and accountability, ensuring that the winners reflected the true achievements of the season. He emphasized that this year’s awards took into account the importance of providing fair and genuine recognition for football in Liberia, addressing the long-standing concerns about the award process. He also emphasized that the entire awards process was conducted with fairness and integrity.
“We did our best to make this award ceremony a true reflection of fair play,” Onanuga remarked. “There were rumors of the awards being politicized or swayed by favoritism, but we remained focused on our mission. We knew that our work would speak for itself.”
Onanuga expressed special gratitude to Doxx Bet Liberia for their consistent support, ensuring the resources promised to the football community were delivered as a meaningful recognition of the players’ dedication and hard work.
In his remarks, LFA President Mustapha Raji praised the MVPs, Abdulai Yaya Bility and Erica Parson, for their exceptional performances and encouraged them to continue striving for excellence both on and off the pitch. Raji reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring that the funds generated by football are reinvested into the sport, supporting its growth and the development of players.
“We will continue to invest whatever we receive from football directly into football,” Raji assured. “This award ceremony is one of many signs that we are committed to fostering the growth of the game. We assure you that the funds received will be used in the most transparent and efficient way possible.”
The Chairman of Doxx Bet Liberia, Michal Frola, commended the LFA and the 2024 Awards Committee for their tremendous efforts in organizing the event and supporting Liberian football. He reiterated Doxx Bet’s commitment to the sport, emphasizing their ongoing partnership with the LFA and their efforts to elevate local football talent both within Liberia and internationally.
“We are proud to work with the LFA, and we thank the Awards Committee for their diligent work,” Frola said. “We are committed to increasing our support for Liberian football, and we look forward to expanding our partnership in the future.”
Speaking to the media, MVPs Abdulai Yaya Bility and Erica Parson expressed their gratitude to the LFA, the Awards Committee, and their voters for their support in achieving the top honors. They also thanked Doxx Bet Liberia for their sponsorship and pledged to continue working hard to achieve even greater success in the coming years.
The 2024 LFA Awards ceremony was a testament to the progress being made in Liberian football. It demonstrated the power of transparency, fair play, and accountability in recognizing the true talent and dedication of Liberia’s top footballers. As the season closes, the shining achievements of the MVPs set a strong precedent for future generations, inspiring both current and future players to continue pursuing excellence in the beautiful game.
